Dave & Lori make Texas Toast!

This is our blog about us. Our lives. It's a digital fingerprint, which we'll be adding to as much as we can pull ourselves away from our lives.

I guess we CAN't Pull ourselves away...

So, I just stumbled upon this blog this morning to realize it was open in Dec. of 2005 and the one an only post... Dec 2005. A lot has happened since then. I guess all that happening has kind of tied us up. Oh what you think you can accomplish when you're days away from the birth of your first child.. as we were in that fateful month of December 2005. Fast forward to October 2009 (cool, time travel) and we have a almost 4 year old daughter who only stops talking when she is asleep... yes.. she even talks with food in her mouth. Cut her some slack.. she's 4. Our son came whirling in behind her 18 months after she was born. I remember having a 10 month old on one hip and a very surprising pregnancy test in the other... THAT WAS FUN! Now, we know that the exact combo of genes that was Joel that were waiting at that exact moment were just WAY to good to pass up. He's gorgeous, funny, smart and every bit a joy and he and his sister really could be twins. I think God decided on a slight pause simply because Ana is clearly NOT a cuddler and Joel is an insasiable cuddler and they might have come to blows in the womb. :)

Dave an I have been married for 7 years now, and I still look at him almost daily and thank every lucky star and more importantly my Abba that I have such an incredable man beside me. The roller coasters have come (moves, family deaths, collicy baby, and scrimping pennies), and we have had days were we heard birds screetching more than singing "every time we appeared", but are stronger than we have ever been and what we have is real and grounded and beautiful and imperfect, but centered on the perfect, which is Christ in our lives.

I am emerging from mommy of two boddlers (my coined phrase for the baby/toddler years) with a new found set of passions, and a tendency to run too fast forward into the future. God is teaching me constantly to slow down and enjoy the season because it will be gone in a blink. But what a hard lesson to learn when you've been sitting on the couch nursing a baby for years, followed by potty training and a large enough stack of dishes to stretch to the moon and back in the course of the last 3 years. He sends me constant reminders of what is at stake to be missed though... like my daughter running in mid blog to tell me, "Mommy I'm a teranadon". So, blogs can wait, and cleaning can wait, and being a wild and successful crafter/entrepaunaur can wait... my kids are adorable and quotable and moldable.. and the time is passing so quickly.. So, I will tell you about Dave quiting his job next month to create Iphone apps with his 2 friends and their own COMPANY on the NEXT blog. Because I have a date with an ice coffee, elmo, and my two fabulous kids!!
